Our Services

Prenatal Consultations. We welcome complimentary prenatal visits as a way of allowing expectant
parents to visit our office, meet our staff and have any questions answered.

Newborn Appointments. We typically see newborns a day or two after hospital discharge. The
newborn nursery staff help parents set-up an appointment for your newborn with our office.

Well Visits/ Check-ups. Routine well visits are one of our core services. We believe that preventing
illnesses are important in ensuring your child’s health. During these visits, we check your child’s growth
and development, give vaccines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control, screen for conditions
that can put your child at risk, and do anticipatory guidance to ensure that your child is physically,
mentally and emotionally healthy.

After the newborn visit, our typical schedule for check-ups is as follows:

2 weeks

1 month

2 months

4 months

6 months

9 months

12 months

15 months

18 months

24 months

After 2 years of age, we recommend a YEARLY check-up.

School and Sports Physicals are incorporated as part of a Well visit exam. Please bring a form for the
office to fill-out for camp/sports/daycare and school physicals.

Sick Visits. We are available when your child is ill. Walk-ins are welcome in the mornings up to 11 am
and in the afternoons up to 4 pm. For walk-ins, there may be a longer wait depending on the number of
patients who signed in before you, or if there is a sicker child that needs to be seen immediately.

We accommodate those who would prefer to call first and come in at a preferred time for an
appointment sick visit.

Phone Advice. During regular office hours, our office has medical staff to assist in answering telephone
questions. We will do our best to answer urgent problems quickly and make necessary appointments
for your child. We will not do referrals to specialists unless your child has been seen for that particular
problem.

After Hours Calls. If you have an urgent medical need after hours, please call the Halifax Regional
hospital operator at 434 517-3100 to talk to the on-call doctor. After hours should not be used for
appointments or medication refills. We will not prescribe medication, including antibiotics and cough
medicines, over the phone.

If you are concerned that your child is experiencing a medical emergency, please call 9-1-1.

PreOperative Clearance. If your child needs a preoperative clearance, please call for an appointment to
schedule it within 30 days of your child’s planned surgery. Please bring the preoperative form that you
need for us to fill-out with the fax number of your child’s dentist or surgeon.
